King Kenny Gone!

Goodbye!
Yesterday we surprisingly received the news that Kenny Dalglish, coach of Liverpool has been relieved of his duties at the club. It was shocking to me, çoz I didn’t see it coming, although there were some pundits who mentioned that his reign may be cut short due to the way he handled Suarez’s case against Evra.
Undermining the fact that Kenney won the Carling Cup and got to the FA Cup Final, that was not enough to earn him continued stay at the helm of affairs at Anfield. Apart from the Suarez issue, I believe ending the league in 8th position and finishing behind city rival, Everton must have done him in. He also finished the season with just 52 points- the lowest ever in Liverpool’s premier league season. 14 wins (6 home wins) is the side fewest number of wins in top flight football in 58 years! These statistics also gave the American owners cause for concern which eventually led to their decision.
We must not forget that Dalglish took over from Roy Hodgson, in what can be termed as a rescue mission mid-way last season, as the club was heading to relegation. He stabilized the club, and in this ending season, gave them a trophy. Nevertheless, he must be questioned on some ridiculous spending on what I label as ‘average players’. The huge funds invested in the acquisition of Henderson (£20m), Carroll (£35m), and Downing (£20), are staggering fees, owing to what these players brought to the team.
Waste?
But the questions that crop up includes: Was the sacking of Dalglish the right decision? Who can be a better replacement? Would he have opted for Champions league position rather than a trophy?
From my own point of view it was absolutely wrong to have sacked Dalglish. I believe he would have been given at least one more year. He is carrying out a rebuilding program. Injuries to key players like Gerrard, Lucas, Agger and Carragher did not help his season either. Who can take over from him? I hear rumors of Roberto Martinez (Wigan) and Rogers (Swansea) are top choice replacements. But in as much as I admire these young managers, I have my reservations. I believe they are too young for the dressing room of Liverpool (don’t forget Hodgson so soon). Am afraid what happened to AVB in Chelsea may easily repeat itself in their case. Most of the big-name managers that could have easily taken control are all currently employed.
Cup King
Well, it has happened…all we can wait for is his replacement. But I am convinced Dalglish still have a high reputation in Liverpool as a legend…this decision did little or nothing to tarnish that image. I’ll miss him, as I regard him as the only man that can ruffle Ferguson mentally and tactically.
Let’s have your view
