Barca Win..and other stories

Ronaldo Celebates Opener
Barca continues its dominance over Madrid as they ran out 3-2 winners over their arch-rivals in the first leg of the super cup played at the Camp Nou. The game started slowly, the first half dragged on void of any clear-cut goal attempt or firework that characterise el clasicos. The second half burst to life as we saw a five-goal thriller in 45 mins.
It was as if Barca were waiting for Madrid to draw the first blood, because immediately after Ronaldo headed the visitors ahead, Barca swiftly responded with a sumptuous attack that produced the equalizer via Pedro’s precise strike. Barca’s persistent pressure only resulted to a crushing challenged on Iniesta by Ramos in the 18 yard box. Lionel Messi made no mistake in striking the penalty which gave the host their lead. Waves of attacks on Madrid, orchestrated by the talent-filled midfield of Barcelona produced another classic attacking move that ripped apart Madrid’s defence…typical of Barcelona…and a composed Xavi slotted the third goal to make the scores 3-1.

Vanquished Valdes
An over-excited Victor Valdes decided to provide a comic. Probably envious of the skilful footwork of his team mates in the midfield, he chose to try some dribbling skills that eventually turned foul against him. Unable to handle a harmless back-pass that was given to him, an on-rushing Di Maria did not give him any time for his artistry; he collected the ball from the keeper, and sent it into the net! It was a real comic gift…I guess that is why he will never bench Casillas or Reina.
The game ended 3-2, with Madrid having the solace of two away goals. Whether that will be enough to earn them the cup….we’ll have to wait for the second leg to decide.

Lamps watch Newboy Apilicueta
In other news, Chelsea has added more players to their team that is already wearing a new look. It was confirmed that Wigan has agreed to allow Victor Moses hold talks with Chelsea, after the Blues met their £9m evaluation for the Nigerian. They have also concluded a £7m deal for Marseille’s full back Azpilicueta. The Spaniard can be seen as a replacement for Bosingwa who was released this summer. He has already joined his team mates in training.
Sahin is also said to have made a U-turn and make a move to Liverpool. Arsenal were put off due to the financial implications of the loan deal. Reports have it that Liverpool secured the player with a ?5m without an option of signing him permanently. Overall this move may cost Liverpool a total of ?14m. That from my own point of view may be too much for a player that Real Madrid got for £8m and rarely had adequate play-time last season!
Anyway, I have not been so keen on Sahin’s arrival to the Emirates, as his position is not a problem. A like-for-like replacement for Alex Song in the shape of M’vila will suit the team more.
There are 7 days left in the transfer market, and it will get ‘frenzier’………..brace yourself for some last minutes moves. Keep it locked down here as I try to keep y’all updated.
