Euro Roundup....

Drifting from England to other major leagues in Europe, we find that most of the league winners are already taking their place. But I strongly believe Spain is an exception. The battle between Barcelona and Real Madrid tugs on. Having cut down the gap to four (4) points, many admit that Barca are a real threat to Madrid. After a dubious penalty which gave Barca the win over the weekend, one may begin to think that the el clasico will be the decider. That can remain a valid argument owing to the way Real are picking up points late in matches recently. In their match against Gijon, it was until the 74th minute before Real could stamp their authority in the game. With the clasico coming up this weekend, we can only wait till the final whistle before speculating who lifts the la liga title.
In the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich have given Dortmund the space they have been craving. A goalless draw with Mainz leaves them eleven points behind Dortmund... and with just three games remaining, you can be sure Bayern have lost that battle... try again next season. But they can now vent that agony on Madrid when both teams meet in the Champions league. If their gods are at home on both legs, they can find themselves in the final, where by ‘UEFA standard’ they should meet Barca.
Piermario Morosini
Thick gloom of sadness was resting over Italy, where all games where cancelled this weekend due to the death of Livorno’s midfielder, Piermario Morosini in a Serie B match against Pescara. The 25 years old slumped in the 31st minute of the match and never regained consciousness. May he rest in Peace! But this calls for action, as this is the second of its kind in the space of less than a month, after Fabrice Muamba’s case. Fortunately, Fabrice is still alive and recovering in the hospital. Players should be tested regularly and their medications screened constantly, as these fatal cases in football raises loads of apprehension about the game. However, the title is still a close contest between unbeaten Juventus and defending champions, AC Milan. Juventus tops the table with a single point.
As the excitement raves on, let’s have your prediction for the league winners.
