Song to follow Van

Song and Van
At the beginning of the transfers when Arsenal bought Podolski, Giroud and Carzola, I was optimistic that this will be a different season for the gunners. It was unknown to me that it may be another identical season like the last one when we lost two key players- Fabregas and Nasri. News coming in this afternoon shows that Van Persie has concluded his medicals and officially announced a Manchester United player. What a deal for Fergie, he signed the German league best player of last season (Kagawa) and also recruited last season’s best Premiership player- Van Persie! Can you beat that! Let’s see how2 they all fit into his plan.
Like Wenger described it, Van Persie’s move is the bitterest pill he (and the fans) had to swallow. But we haven’t had the time to absorb this reality, and now Song’s move to Barca is gathering all serious indication that the deal will materialize. OMG!!! Another loss of two key players!? In his press conference today, Wenger was very direct and open, as never before. He stated clearly that, Song is either open to sign a new contract or will be allowed to live. Sad, but the good news is that he also admitted that the club are following up on some recruitments, with Sahin being one of them. Although Mourinho will like to allow Sahin go to Liverpool for a season-long loan, the player has stalled the movement, preferring a switch to the gunners. There are also mentions of M’vila as an option for a direct replacement of Alex Song.
Agreed, I hear many singing that Song is not indispensible; but you’ll agree with me that if he stays he will maintain stability in the midfield. When new players join a team, it takes some time for them blend and gel; and with fast pace of the premiership, there may be little time for that. Anyway, we can only watch how the season pans out with all these drama associated with Arsenal once again.
On to some other Arsenal news… Vermaleen has been made the captain of the team, while Arteta will be the assistant. I do hope Vermaleen will not toe the path of his predecessors who leave the team at the time they are most needed.
Wilshere also got his own share of the loot by inheriting the number 10 jersey which was worn by the erstwhile captain.
Drawing my conclusion to this whole razzmatazz, I think I’ll take side with Wenger who drew our attention to the fact that Arsenal is 125 years old, great players have been sold many times, and the team have always found a way of going on…stronger. I do wish…
